Project: Website for Gastrocentrum

As a web developer, I was commissioned to build a fully custom website for Gastrocentrum, a specialist clinic in gastroenterology and endoscopy located in Östermalm, Stockholm (Tegeluddsvägen, Gärdet area). The project focused on creating a secure, modern, and patient-centered digital platform using a bespoke, custom-built CMS (not WordPress) to ensure tailored functionality, performance, and easy content management for the clinic team.

What the client wanted

The client sought a website that clearly positions Gastrocentrum as a leading specialist clinic offering high-quality, personalized care in gastroenterology (diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal conditions such as IBS, Crohn’s disease, gastric ulcers, and liver issues) and endoscopy (advanced gastroscopy and colonoscopy for accurate diagnostics). Central to their vision was placing the patient first — providing safe, professional, and deeply personal care in a warm, welcoming, and calming environment. They wanted to highlight their experienced specialist physicians with care agreements from Region Stockholm, quality assurance through KIV certification, adherence to Region Stockholm’s environmental policy for sustainable healthcare, customized treatment plans, attentive listening to patient needs, and a serene atmosphere that reduces anxiety. The site needed to feature their central location with excellent accessibility (near Gärdet metro station) and serve as an inviting resource for both referring physicians and private patients. Key requirements included a reassuring and approachable tone, intuitive navigation for easy access to information on services, procedures, booking, and contact, full responsiveness across devices, high accessibility standards, fast performance, and a clean, professional aesthetic that feels trustworthy and human rather than clinical or impersonal.

What was delivered

I developed a completely custom website from the ground up, using a proprietary, tailor-made CMS built specifically for this project. This allowed precise control over features, security, and future scalability while giving the clinic staff a streamlined, intuitive admin interface for managing content without relying on third-party plugins or standard CMS limitations.

  • Structure & Content: Core sections included a welcoming introduction (“Välkommen till Gastrocentrum”), detailed expertise pages on “Gastroenterologi” and “Endoskopi,” a dedicated “Why Gastrocentrum?” section highlighting unique benefits (patient-centered approach, experienced specialists, quality certifications, personalized care, calm environment, and prime location), plus service overviews, about the team, booking/contact information, and practical details.
  • User Experience: Clean, intuitive navigation with prominent, reassuring call-to-action elements for inquiries and appointments; fully responsive design optimized for mobile, tablet, and desktop; fast page loads through efficient code and optimized assets.
  • SEO & Accessibility: On-page SEO tailored to key searches like “gastroenterologi Stockholm,” “endoskopi Östermalm,” “mag-tarm specialist,” with semantic markup, descriptive alt texts, and full WCAG compliance for better inclusivity.
  • Security & Custom Features: Built-in HTTPS, GDPR-compliant forms for contact and referrals, custom validation logic, and architecture prepared for seamless future integrations (e.g., appointment scheduling or patient communication tools).
  • Visual & Technical Design: A soothing color scheme (soft whites, blues, and greens), generous whitespace, high-quality calming imagery of the clinic space (patient privacy respected), professional typography, and subtle, modern interactions to convey warmth and expertise.

The final website is a polished, custom-crafted platform that authentically reflects Gastrocentrum’s commitment to patient-first, high-quality gastroenterological care. Delivered on time, it has been praised by the client for its calm and trustworthy tone, ease of use, strong performance, and perfect alignment with their brand values in a competitive healthcare landscape in Stockholm.
